Starting Out: Reality Sound School

It was a beautiful autumn day during my review of Oculus rift’s emergence into mainstream gaming and entertainment when a colleague of mine told me about a new type of program for sound engineers that I should take a look at. It’s a great pleasure of mine seeking out the best programs for budding filmmakers and I was always stumped with one specific category: SOUND.
This part of the motion picture/TV production process is arguably the most crucial part of making a quality piece of content. It can literally make or break an artistic masterpiece and weed out the amateurs from the pros. But other than traditional academies and expensive vocational schooling, I’ve had trouble finding the perfect balance to get Sound Education out there at a price that anyone can afford.
My associate shared with me Blair Halver’s “Reality Sound School”, which got me intrigued, as I had never seen an online course that specifically focused on reality sound mixing like this. After reviewing the sales materials that Blair provides on his website, I made the decision to try it out for myself and see what all the fuss was about and if this program was the right program to share with filmmakers or individuals looking to get into sound mixing. So I signed up and decided to begin my journey in learning Reality TV sound.
First off: The free materials and opening webinar to get you interested in the 5-week course are fantastic. They truly provide the student a comprehensive overview of what the 5-week course has to offer. The webinar made me more excited to get started so I could share with you my experience. What’s also great about Blair’s pre-program, is he provides you with a great number of free tips and sneak peeks into the course. This was an essential reason why I decided to get started.
Over the next 6-weeks, I will be reviewing this program for all of you and writing first hand about my experiences.
If you’d like to join the course and follow along with me, sign up HERE.
